Sources and priority
Profiles are built from public sources only. Higher-priority sources overwrite weaker ones, and every overwrite is recorded:
- Official website: the cafe's own site outranks everything else.
- Official business information: map listings and business records come next.
- Official social presence: used where a profile verifiably belongs to the business.
- Phone verification: where a phone check was actually performed, it is recorded with its date.
- Directories: lowest priority, used only as supporting evidence.
Field-level provenance
Each stored fact carries its own source, observation date and verification status. That is why a profile can show a source-checked phone number while leaving hours empty: the two fields have separate evidence trails. Every profile page ends with a sources section listing what was used.
What is checked
Before a cafe is published, these are examined against sources: name and identity, address, area, phone and WhatsApp numbers (only where a source supports them), website, opening hours, coordinates, and cafe type.
Verification states
Profiles carry one of these states:
- Verified: published after passing completeness and source checks.
- Source checked: fields backed by sources but not yet through the full gate.
- Aging: verified some time ago; re-verification is due soon.
- Stale: overdue for re-verification; treated as possibly outdated.
- Needs verification: a change signal or gap requires a fresh check before the field can be trusted.
What verification does not mean
Verified does not mean Furqan.shop guarantees every business claim forever. Businesses change hours, menus, phone numbers and staff. A verified field means a listed source supported it on the observation date shown on the profile. For anything important, confirm details with the cafe directly.
If something looks wrong, tell Furqan.shop and the correction will be checked against sources. The verification process itself is summarised on the about page.
